Reading an invoice, line by line

3 min

You’re charged weekly, on Monday morning Eastern, for the past week’s attributed sales, or sooner if the balance reaches the early-charge amount on your Billing page. A week with no attributed sales costs nothing.

The lines, top to bottom

Open any invoice from Billing › Payment history:

  1. Attributed orders, order totals: every order placed with a conversation’s one-use code.
  2. Less shipping and tax: never charged.
  3. Less orders cancelled before billing: left out.
  4. Product revenue (fee basis): what the fee is worked out on.
  5. Fee at your rate: your rate from your agreement.
  6. Credit applied: anything we owed you.
  7. Total charged: what went on your card.

Under the breakdown is the list of attributed orders, with a CSV you can check against Shopify.

Refunds and cancellations

  • Cancelled before it’s billed: left out of the invoice.
  • Refunded, before or after billing: the fee stays. Think of it like ad spend that already did its job.
  • Test orders: never billed.

Keeping your books tidy

  • Email receipt or Download PDF on any invoice.
  • Download invoices at the top of Billing exports 3 months, this year or all time as one CSV.
  • Receipts go to your billing contact, never to a shared inbox.
Quick check

A customer returns an attributed order two weeks after your invoice was paid. What happens to the fee?
